SWEDA1PRO: A1 Pro Swedish Survival Knife
Fallkniven

There are survival knives, and there are survival knives for the professional survivor. Fallkniven's model A1 has provided exceptional service for more than twenty years and thanks to their outstanding quality and durability, the A1 will continue to do so for many years to come. Nevertheless, the desire to strive for continual improvement has led Fallkniven to develop the Pro Series which takes the concept of the survival knife to unimaginable heights of quality. Fallkniven began developing this impressive knife in 2010 and five years later, they are able to offer a survival knife which sets the benchmark for survival knife manufactures the world over.

To put it simply, a knife is a blade and a handle. But if this vital tool is to remain strong and stay sharp, you have to add fairly decent materials. If you then claim to call a knife "professional", you take on a responsibility to the user to raise the bar above what is normal. Taking this responsibility seriously, Fallkniven has made a number of improvements found here in the "Pro Series".

The first difference is the use of laminated cobalt steel instead of the traditional laminated VG10 use in its predecessors which ensures a durable edge and greater edge retention. The blades are now thicker to withstand greater external forces and feature a cross guard permanently mounted to the tang. The tapered tang is now wider and thick adding to the overall strength of this knife. The Zytel sheaths have been redesigned to be more durable and better suited to the MOLLE attachment system. Each knife is also supplied with Fallkniven's DC4 combination whetstone, which offers both a diamond whetstone and ceramic stone for field sharpening. Last but not least, it includes a shock-resistant, waterproof box that can be used to store the knife or other survival gear.

Best Fixed Blade for Outdoors Lovers
Only downside is weight, but it is to be expected with a thick CoS full tang blade. Handles heavy work with ease and still can do the little stuff. 10/10 would recommend for serious campers/survivalists.

Cons: Handle Material, None
"A+" blade, handle a "B-"
Blade is an "A+", the handle perhaps a "B-" (for me). Straight-back and minimal shaping doesn't fit my XL-sized hand well. May just be too small a handle for me. The flare-out at the end is in just the right location to dig into my palm. The aggressive rubber handle stippling pattern is abrasive. The result is a klutzy, uncomfortable feel. I have $25 knives that feel like an extension to my hand. Not this one. Clumsy feel due to short handle. If you have smaller hands, none of this may be an issue, but for me this will be at most an art piece, but most likely sold off.
