Description
UT11UTKS5: UTK 5" Drop Point Fixed Blade
Utica Cutlery Company

The UTK series from Utica offers you robust and comfortable knives at great prices. The blade of this 11-UTKS5 model is made from 1095 high carbon steel with a tough powder coat finish. This makes it great for harsh use in the field, on the trail or anywhere your adventures may take you. The handles are made from black micarta for a comfortable and secure grip with CNC machined bolsters and an anti-slip texture for that added touch. The sheath is tightly molded for a snug and secure fit, can be worn both vertically or horizontally, and comes with a fire starter and sharpener integrated into the design. The UTK series is designed for outdoor/survival use but can flex nicely into a tactical role should the need arise.

Micarta Handles
Micarta Handles Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.
1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.

Excellent Knife
I disagree that this knife is better than an Esee but it is a great value for the money spent, it would be an interesting argument. I love my Utica, you get excellent quality at an affordable price, the Utica also includes upgrades you'd have to buy separate with many other knives, micarta scales, ferro rod, and sharpener. I also really like the sheath, the knife locks in solid.

New camping knife
Wife stole my previous knife for by the bedside she likes big knives and feels "safe" so gave me an excuse for a new knife. Ever since I opened this bad boy up I'm in love. Feels really good in hand super sharp. I wish I had gone with polished but the powder coat is going to offer longer protection with less care so no complaints. Sheath fits tight and doesn't have rattle. If you're looking for a knife that isn't ridiculous expensive but is really good quality pick it up. Knife even came coated in oil. Overall very pleased with my purchase.

Near perfect
The knife will be used as a camping and day hiking tool. I done a ton of research prior to the purchase of this affordable knife. It seems well made and should last a lifetime, if properly taken care of. I initially considered removing the coating but eventually considered only removing the coating on the spine and replacing with gun bluing. Since the ferro rod striker needs thrown in the garbage, the knife spine needs some work to a make this a multifunctional tool. The plastic sheath is not as bad as people say but I plan to drill a drain hole in the bottom for those wet days.Just because I plan to make some modifications to the knife doesn't mean it's a bad one. I like the knife and will highly recommend it. Buy this one if you are reading this.
