Wicked Edge

The Pro Pack III is most versatile sharpening kit Wicked Edge has to offer. It includes the Precision Sharpener – WE130 with a wide assortment of their most popular abrasives which will produce spectacular mirror ﬁnishes. With the included Low Angle Adapter it has an angle range of 10-35 degrees per side, the widest angle range of any of our sharpening systems. The angle can be set differently on each side of the sharpener, making ideal for sharpening knives with asymmetrical grinds.

The Pro Pack III includes everything used on 90% of the knives sharpened by Wicked Edge founder Clay Allison. The Precision Sharpener is a superbly engineered, manual sharpening machine. It was designed with very exacting standards to consistently deliver an incredible, razor sharp edge. While the results are excellent, it is easy to use and does not require special knowledge or skills to use. The Pro Pack I is a standard Precision Sharpener with two extra packs and a Wicked Edge sharpening base. This is the fastest and easiest way to get a razor sharp edge on all your knives. Made in the USA.

Never going back to "regular" sharpeners

While it is pricey, it is such high quality and amazing results and you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!The hard case the Wicked Edge comes in is military grade awesomeness.While it is easy to learn the system, I have a feeling there is vast room for better and better sharpening sessions to come. I've brought a few knives back from extinction and taken some really sharp Spydercos and turned them into mirror edged razors (and have no more hair on my left hand!)The act of finding, setting and recording the correct angles is fun...it takes only a few minutes to truly get it dialed in, and when you do you feel a sense of pride. Then you settle in for a few rounds of meditative sharpening, progressing through the stones, feeling the subtle change of surface tension as the blade gets sharper, then sharper, then sharper than you have ever felt a knife!I'm blown away at how enjoyable the process is, and just how effective are the results. If you can, invest in a Wicked Edge. Even if you start with an entry level model, you will still be amazed. And then, as time and $ permit, add stones and strops as your confidence grows.If you feel like you can't/shouldn't go for it, FIND a friend who has a Wicked Edge and buy him a case of beer to sharpen one of your favorite knives...you will be so thrilled.

Cons: Ease of Use

Good but very pricey

My wife bought this for me last xmas (2018). There's a learning curve with it. Its finicky about how the blade clamps up and takes some fiddling around to get it just right. Read the directions and watch the videos online. However, once you've got the hang of it, it a very good system. The clamp up is repeatable so you don't have to go looking for your angles again (assuming you wrote them down). But you need to be careful with the clamps. If they are not clean when you clamp the blade, scratching can occur. I always use painters tape. It sounds like I'm criticizing it but really I'm not. I messed up way more blades with bench stones. The edges can come out as close to razor sharp as I've ever gotten to without sharpening an actual razor. Overall a good product. However, as you can tell from the price they are very proud of their product.
