WEK712E: 712E Balaenoptera Folding Knife
We Knife Company
We Knife Company has been around the game for a long time but has only recently begun manufacturing their own designs. They started by manufacturing OEM designs for other companies and have gained a reputation in the industry as a name you can rely on. Their products are innovative, beautiful, and extremely well-built so you can rest assured you're getting a supreme quality product at a great price.
The 712 model from We Knives is named the Balaenoptera, which happens to be the genus of the largest animal that has ever lived, the blue whale. It's a great name as we definitely see the resemblance between this blade shape and the head of a blue whale. The curved nature of the handle also fits with this overall shape. The only thing it's missing is the tail, which we are thankful for. Besides its visual appeal, the Balaenoptera is sized perfectly for that EDC/tactical/outdoor survival role and is extremely well-built as you've come to expect from We. It features a design that will excel at all sorts of cutting tasks but it's especially adept at slicing and your flipping action is fast and responsive. The pocket clip, backspacer, screws, and pivot cap are all 6Al4V titanium for maximum quality assurance and the frame lock is very easy to disengage. We love the look and feel of the Balaenoptera and highly recommend it to you as it could become a rotation favorite as soon as you pull it out of the box.
