Useful item
The inner fibres are something military parachutes will often have for strengthening purposes. Gives you a bit more security exiting with a load or ejecting at high speed. Gutting them made the lines pack a little more compact back in the days military parachutes were used for sport parachuting. Can't say how well the inner fibres burn but they're definitely handy for fishing, guinea fowl snares and other survival activities. Aircrew were taught to use the inners for all sorts of light duties and leave the stronger outer lining for more robust use.
