Description
ZT0850CF: Sprint Run Model 0850CF Folding Knife
Zero Tolerance Knives

The Zero Tolerance 0850 is an exciting Dmitry Sinkevich/Todd Rexford collaboration based on a spectacular custom piece the two knifemakers built together in 2016. This black carbon fiber & dual-finish blade version of the 0850CF is a sprint run, built in limited quantity.

Dmitry and Todd had always admired each other's work, so perhaps it was inevitable that they would eventually collaborate. They talked and agreed to work on a project together. Dmitry provided a drawing of an initial concept. Todd worked out the design details and décor. Together they went to work in Todd's Colorado workshop, sawing, milling, sharpening, and polishing. Eventually, they built exactly two completely astounding knives. And sold them almost instantly.

Zero Tolerance decided that two was not enough. They talked with Dmitry and Todd and they agreed to work on a production version of their collaboration. The 0850 is the result.

The blade of the 0850CF Sprint Run is CPM-20CV stainless steel with a two-tone, DLC coated & machine satin finish. This powdered metallurgy steel offers outstanding edge holding capability and corrosion resistance. The 0850CF opens manually using a decorative aluminum thumb stud with a black DLC coat. The thumb stud is echoed by the unique aluminum backspacer that has been turned and sculpted, then black DLC coated. The handles that surround this unusual backspacer are built from a carbon fiber composite material.

To keep the weight down on this big folder, ZT added their patented Sub-Frame Lock with hardened steel lockbar insert. (The ZT Sub-Frame Lock is covered under US Patent 9,120,234.) A custom machined titanium clip with black DLC coating and pivot cap, and black Teflon-coated hardware round out the look of this extraordinary knife.

Pros: Blade Material, Blade Sharpness, None
Cons: Ease of Opening
Poor Deployment
The detent is too strong, requires excessive force on thumb stud to overcome the detent to deploy blade. I have the blue CF 850 model as well & it does not have this issue. I sent this one back to ZT to adjust the detent pressure, they returned it to me & said the detent pressure is correct, very disappointing for a knife of this expected quality. As to the previous reviewer stating it simply needs to break-in, no knife in this price range should be difficult to deploy & hurt your thumb while deploying, out of the box. Very disappointed considering the price I paid for this knife.

TACTICAL SCALPEL
I've seen a lot of reviews online and it sounds like more than half of the reviewers don't like it! I don't think they give the knives a chance. They get the knife, and the very same day they're complaining! Give the knife at least a week to BREAK-IN! JEEZ!!! I love it!! Waiting for a $50 gift card to get the blue CF one! The design looks simple , but there's really a lot going on with this knife! Another WORK OF ART! U can see the different colors of the spectrum in the steel, combined with all that BLACK CF AND BLACK DLC COATING! I can't stop STUDYING IT AND I CAN'T STOP CARRYING IT! There's nothing wrong with the lock bar and nothing wrong with the detent. Everything is stiff when it's new. It has an adjustable pivot bolt in case u want to loosen the play a little. I haven't adjusted mine yet! I've only had it 2 weeks or so. And it gets better EVERY DAY! The way the blade locks up, it sounds like a professional tool not just a knife!
