Pros: Materials, Finish, Overall Quality, Handle Material, Included Tools, Blade Material, None
Great Idea, quality materials, design needs work
Being an electrician I had to get one of these when I first saw it. There are occasionally times when I'm away from the area I'm working in and don't have my tools with me, at such times this tool could come in very handy. When it arrived I was very impressed, nice quality stainless steel and finish, solid construction, Made in the U.S.A.! Unfortunately, I then noticed the problems with it. When the handles are unfolded, so the strippers/cutters/pliers can be used, they don't lock. Picture a pair of pliers with hinges where the handles meet the working jaws, not a very good idea, and not the most functional. Sure they'll work, but every time you spread the handles to open the jaws, the handles pivot at the joint, instead of the jaws opening. So instead of being able to open them with one hand you have to use both to pull them apart. I have mult-tools made by Leatherman and Gerber that both have regular pliers, both of them lock very well and work great. If they could redesign these so the handles lock to the working jaws I'd buy another pair in a heart beat. The only other gripe is with the blade and tool lock release levers. They function good, just like they should, but they just stick out way too much. Whenever the tool is folded closed, you have two little arms sticking out. If it wasn't for the handles not locking to the jaws, I would have kept this tool and put up with the blade release levers sticking out. Unfortunately, as it is, it doesn't suit my needs, I sadly had to return it.
