Pros: Handle Material, Blade Material, Handle Feel, Weight, Overall Quality, Ease of Opening, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
First the knife is sharp right out of the box. Second , the craftsmanship and design is superb. Bear and son uses high quality materials on their steel , liners , and handles. Well worth the price Third , easy old time open ie. One Arm Bandit. After the Civil War many returning vets had lost limbs. This blade was designed to open by a one arm man. Catch the indented blade tip on pants pocket, belt loop, boot heel, etc. and it opens. No assisted open ; no thumb stud. Just like it was in 1866. Fourth , it has a belly on about the first half of the blade which is designed to enhance cutting ; which it greatly does. I use this knife to open mail all the way up to cutting straps on 100 lb. boxes of bearings at work. If you're in the market for a good dependable pocket knife with old time nostalgia to boot , buy this knife. You want regret it.

top quality knife
I have bought other Bear and Son products and have always found them to be top quality and an excellent value. This knife is no exception. I'm sure that anyone would be pleased with the knife in every respect. I plan to buy more of this brand in the future. It is very difficult to buy any American made products of this type at such a reasonable cost.

This folder is a very attractive and functional piece, and will delight the eye. I can say without reserve that besides the well-crafted functional aspects of this unique single blade Barlow, the beauty of the Rosewood scales (handles) are very well finished and compliment the rest of the knife. The nickel silver bolsters and liners enhance the overall appeal of the folder. The blade is tight and functions flawlessly with the mechanical slip-joint spring, and comes moderately sharp from the factory. I bought this One-Arm Bandit Barlow in March of 2015 which was by coincidence one year to the month later that I had purchased (from the Stag-handled Bear & Son One-Arm Bandit Barlow. I use both as a general-purpose knife, and the high-carbon stainless blade is easy to sharpen & maintain a cutting edge. The One-Arm Bandit Barlow is truly a conversation piece with a proud history and made in the USA!
