Information from Bear & Son Cutlery

Bear & Son Cutlery is proud to manufacture their 4th Generation Series, made of high-polished 1095 carbon steel blades and popular Yellow Delrin handles. The 4th Generation name comes from the style knife I remember my Pap sitting on the front porch on Saturday afternoon, listening to a Braves game on the radio and peeling an apple. I would try to peel that apple without breaking the peel. My Papa Griffey would always accomplish this seemingly impossible task. I can also remember sitting with my Papa, Dad and Uncle whittlin' a piece of ceder. I can smell that pile of fine shavings at the end of the day.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
The lockback system has been used for many decades. It can usually be found on the knife spine and it provides a strong lockup that will wear well.

Most knives use stainless steel now but the old 1095 carbon steel will take a sharper edge, last longer, and is easier to resharpen. It does take some care as it will stain or rust. Further, many knives are made in overseas now while this knife is made in the U.S.A. It has a functional lock to save your fingers from accidental closings while in use. Had they been available, I would have purchased more.
