BlackHawk! describes this item as follows:

The original Crucible folding knife, designed by noted close-combat expert Kelly McCann, found immediate favor with armed professionals and remains in service worldwide. However, as a premium-quality knife, its price tag put it out of reach of many military and law enforcement personnel. In response to their requests, BLACKHAWK! manufactured the same exact design, making calculated changes to the blade steel and coating to make it more affordable. The result was the Crucible II. This high-performance folding knife features a stout, flush-ground liner-lock mechanism, textured G-10 handle slabs, and a distinctive handle shape that provides a superior grip and hand protection. Its broad spearpoint blade is ground from AUS 8A stainless steel and features a non-reflective black Teflon® coating. Available with either a plain or partially serrated edge, the Crucible II also features a four-position clip that supports all possible carry positions and Phillips-head clip and pivot screws for easy user maintenance.

Pros: Ease of Opening, Weight, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Pocket Clip, Lock Type, None
Better as a fixed blade
the knife was bought for general camping. It performs ok for that purpose but is somewhat cumbersome to use. The blade is sharp, strong, and will take abuse. The biggest complaint is that the thumb brake to close the blade is so recessed, that you cannot close it unless you use two hands. Poor design.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Lock Type, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
Cons: None
Awesome knife. My personal edc. Its flush ground liner really keeps the knife from closing on your hand. When the knife is open it feels like a fixed blade in that it is ultra sturdy. Opening it quickly takes a little practice but if you are ever going to carry a knife for self defense you should practice anyway. the grip is awesome, just fits like a glove into your hand and its long pommel can be used as a kubaton. wont slide in the hand even when wet and the hilt is extended just enough where if you where to hit something hard your hand wont slide down onto the blade. the four position clip is perfect for any preference and it is close to the tips so it keeps a low profile. the knife is razor sharp and keeps an edge for a while even after use. Kelly McCann really got it right.
