BM300SSN: 300SSN AXIS Flipper

Benchmade offers this model as their first issue of a flipper knife. Combined with the Axis lock, this makes for a great pocketknife. The flipper allows for immediate and lightning fast opening action. The Axis locking system is super strong and also allows for easy, one handed unlocking and closing. The actions of flicking your wrist with your finger on the flipper or the lock to open and close this knife will soon feel perfectly natural and you will wonder how you ever had a different system. The textured G10 handles are also great on these and give good grip in all conditions as well as a nice look! The blade shape is nice on these with a nice "belly" on the flat ground blade. The "belly" means it has a lot of curve and this really allows you to use all parts of the edge while other blade shapes may encourage you to use a particular area of the cutting edge. The pocket clip is reversible and is made for deep pocket carry with the tip up. We really like this model and feel that it will serve you well as an every day carry knife for just about any task you set in front of it.

Cons: None
Couldn't be better.
I've purchased quite a few Benchmade knives over the past 20 plus years and this is now my favorite. It's fast to deploy and has a thick blade that is razor sharp. I like the fact that the flipper is not spring loaded as there is nothing to break. The handle is comfortable to grip and is not going to slip. I carry it every day, on duty and off. Couldn't be more pleased with it.

Benchmade knives are a cut above
This was my second benchmade purchase. One as a gift and one for myself. The 300SSN is a great knife. The action is smooth with a slight hitch in the swing when opening so the blade isn't swinging around freely. The textured handle provides great grip for a solid secure feel in your hand. This particular model is slightly heavy for my taste but a great knife nonetheless

Balanced and Smooth, but Built Like a Vault!
With any folder, the most important feature for me is the lock mechanism. Having used and tested the axis lock before, this qualification was met as it is one of the strongest lock mechanisms on the market. This knife purchase was mainly for the desire for a shorter blade length than the usual 3.25-4.0 I normally carry. The length of the 300S was what I was looking for and I chose the combo edge for its ability to handle heavy chores with the serrations while keeping the main edge sharp. I was looking for a flipper style blade for its easy and quickness to deploy. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that the flipper design coupled with the weight and balance of the blade deployed lightning fast and smooth by use of the thumb stud and the flipper "paddle" acts as a very secure "guard" once opened. The ambidextrous lock studs allow for an extremely smooth almost "self-closing" blade; again due to perfect balance of the blade design. The G-10 grip panels along with the texturing allow for an extremely secure grip and purchase on the handles. I also like the deep pocket design of the clip which makes this knife not nearly as noticeable as other designs I have carried. This knife just feels like an extension of my hand but is built like a vault. A+.
