BM555BKHG: 555BKHG Mini Hollow Ground Griptilian
The Griptilian is born of custom knife maker Mel Pardue's passion for functional designs. You release the creature's ferocity with a thumb stud. At the very heart of the Griptilian, is the exclusive AXIS™ locking mechanism. This modern marvel gives life to a cutting tool like you have never experienced before, especially in a lightweight folder. Rock-solid ambidextrous function is sure to tame the most die-hard of traditionalists. And you can grab onto the lightweight, injection molded handle with its grip-textured surface and rib covered spine that grabs you right back for a "can't let go" grip.

  • AXIS® A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot machined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides of the knife, spanning the liners and positioned over the rear of the blade. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, give the locking bar it’s inertia to engage the knife tang, and as a result the tang is wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS bar itself.

Perfect EDC
Absolutely perfect. I won't post a long review on this knife. People who know what a good knife is probably own one by now. Small, light, sharp, well built. You almost forget that it's clipped in your pocket. Could ask for nothing more in an edc knife.

Great Knife
I bought this knife for my collection until I opened the box. I have been looking for a med. size knife for my tackle box and I now found one. This knife is very easy to open and close with one hand, which is helpful when fishing. The blade on this knife was razor sharp out of the box (could cut paper). I removed the pocket clip for better feel. If this knife had a H&K Push Button release rather than the Axis Slide release I would have given it "10". The Benchmade H&K button is just a little easier to use. Over all a great knife for the price and I would buy another if this goes overboard.

Decent knife, but it has its flaws
I was so excited to order this knife. I have a mini-griptilian and absolutely love it, so I figured that a bigger one would be just as good. Unlike my mini, this one's handle feels very cheap. It is almost too lightweight for a bigger knife. Due to the AXIS lock, it does not have stainless steel liners running through the handle. It feels like cheap plastic. The blade on the other hand is excellent. It has easily cut through anything I have needed to cut, and it stays extremely sharp. Overall a decent knife, but there are others that are much better.
