Description
BMHK14440SB: 14440SB Ally
Heckler & Koch by Benchmade

Heckler & Koch Knives by Benchmade introduces another unique model with the 14440SB Ally. The Ally is poised to appeal to a broad market for a variety of reasons. Combining useful mechanisms, high quality materials and the "No Compromise" attitude expected from HK, consumers should expect this to be an exceptionally popular model.

The Ally uses a single-piece, folded stainless steel handle that adds strength while keeping additional materials at a minimum. There are multiple advantages to the design in that there are fewer pieces to assemble and fewer moving parts. This handle assembly also keeps the knife beautifully simple yet strikingly tough.

The Ally comes standard utilizing a black oxide coated, partially serrated, AUS-8 blade. At the rear of the knife is a glass breaker for added functionality. The handle has also been chamfered to reduce the overall weight to 2.92 oz. The single piece handle construction is wrapped in a way that allows for a slim profile. The Ally also comes equipped with a large lanyard hole and a moveable pocket clip. This knife can be carried almost any way the owner desires.

One of the greatest features to this knife is the price. The Ally is a very popular choice for just about everyone. Law enforcement, first time knife buyers, knife enthusiasts and everyone in between seem to be attracted to this little hero. Combining form and function into an attractively priced package makes it all that much easier to have an Ally by your side.

Cons: Handle Feel
Great little knife
I'm using this knife by carrying every day, clipped on the fabric of my trousers, for about 3 years. I wrapped a thick hair elastic band into the lanyard hole in order to avoid having the glass breaker digging into my skin too much, with that it's confortable to carry, while retaining the breaker functionality. I like it's small/thin size, length is perfect for basic+ urban use. Blade needs frequent sharpening to stay razor sharp, without that it's still useable, the serrated part always cuts well. Never tried the glass breaker. Handle is OK, can hurt with prolonged use as it has some edges. Handle is quite tough, took a lot of abuse (used as I used it as pry tool, hammer, crude screwdriver, I only use full metal knives because they're so useful). Paint get scratched easily but no big deal, it only happened near cutting edge and where I made contact with metal or stone. Blade got a little lose, it's not really noticeable (I think the plastic discs that hold the blade have losen up a bit). Overall very good go-to cheap knife.

Great Knife
The H&K with 2.8" blade was exactly what I was looking for. Light weight, very sharp, nice looking knife that I carry in my pocket daily.

Great value EDC
I first got this knife in 2009 a few months before going to Iraq. While I was there, I let a friend borrow it, and he didn't want to return it... So I just bought another at the base exchange there! I've carried it with me in all my travels, used it aggressively and have barely taken any care of it. It is a great knife. Will not let you down. Good blade, although I wish it was plain. That is the ONLY con i have for it. For the price, it cannot be beat.
