BO130C3S: Boker Ceramic | 6.125" Chef's Knife

Boker Ceramic will introduce your kitchen to high performance technology. As long as you know how to handle it.

Boker Ceramic

Modern technology for the kitchen - said effortlessly. And sometimes, it also feels effortless, like working with the Boker Ceramic knives.

The Boker Ceramic Series: ultra-sharp, corrosion-free and dishwasher-safe knives made of ceramic - an extremely hard and durable material, comparable to a diamond. Blades made out of this ceramic are (and stay) super sharp for a very long time. This was proven by a study of the "Versuchs-und Prüfanstalt Remscheid" (see diagram). As shown here, ceramic blades stay sharp about ten times longer than normal steel knives.

The handle is made of fiber reinforced synthetic material and offers a very comfortable, secure grip and ergonomic shape. Boker Ceramic knives are very low maintenance, for they are 100% corrosion
resistant and dishwasher-safe. Furthermore, they are lightweight, non-magnetic and chemically neutral, which makes them perfect for cutting delicate food.

We often are asked what happens if a Ceramic blade is dropped on the floor. It does not shatter into many pieces like a porcelain cup.

Experience this next generation knife technology!

Please be advised: A knife is a cutting tool, not a screwdriver and not a prying tool. If you keep that in mind, you will enjoy your Boker Ceramic knife for many years.

Pros: Design, Construction, None
Cons: Sharpness
This is our second biker ceramic chef's knife. 1st came really sharp & we dropped it & broke blade. Our fault. However one we just received wasn't half as sharp & cost almost twice as much.

Pros: Material Quality, None
Cons: Sharpness, Sharpenability
Wife not happy.
This was a replacement for another Boker Ceramic knife that broke that was apron half the cost. Figured this would be better or at least equal to last one. It is not.

Pros: Sharpness, None
Cons: Durability
Sharp out of the box, but easy to break.
I used one of these Boker Chef knives to trim the meat on a standing crown roast. This technique is called "Frenching" and gives a cleaner more professional look to the finished roast. As a worked along the rib pressing the blade against the bone as I trimmed away the excess, the tip of the knife snapped off about an inch from the end. Where the tip went is anyone's guess, it launched into space for all I know. I'm a big guy with huge hands, and I've snapped the tips off steel knives too, but not when they were nearly new like this ceramic knife. It would probably be fine for vegetables though, but not butchering work.
