Pros: Blade Sharpness, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
Cons: Lock Type, None
I use this knife for normal everyday tasks, such as cutting cardboard, tape, opening mail, etc. I own many knives, cheap and expensive, and rank Buck's 420HC among the best. Their heat treating process is top notch. As always, a deep carry pocket clip adds value IMO. This knife is an incredible value. It's a great EDC option that locks up strong and stays sharp. The Glass Reinforced Nylon provides a very sturdy grip, which is very comfortable. Mine has no blade play and opens easily one-handed. The choil is functional and comfortable as well.I promise you WILL NOT find a better American-made knife for under $20. Period. The only criticisms I have for this knife come from preference, not deficiency. I would like to see a little jimping on the handle, and a screwed pivot, rather than pinned. Neither are a deal-breaker. I prefer a liner lock, but I'm okay with the lock back on this one.
