Condor Tool & Knife

The Condor Bush Knife is a unique design from world-renowned and award winning knife and tool designer Arlan D. Lothe. The design concept comes from ancient tools used in the South of Europe for generations, both on the farm and in the sporting fields. To this day a smaller version of this multi-functional tool is used by the Italian Boy Scouts; it is simply called the "Scout Knife".

The long straight blade can be used as a knife, hatchet, and axe or clever. The hooked edge can be used as a brush hook and scythe for cutting many materlais in and around a campsite. Needless to say the hook also provides an effective weapon. Ths blade will cut in both dfrections, swinging it right and Ieft and up and down.

A Solid Piece for Solid Work
It is a good tool. I have used it for clearing some brush and turning the bigger pieces into sticks for the fire. Out of the box it had a decent edge, but needed some additional work to put a solid usable edge on it. The sickle portion was sharper than the straight edge which is just as well since the straight is the easier to work.Since it is carbon steel it does hold its edge reasonably well, but I did make sure to put a wax coating on it before I used it. The sheath is a good piece of leather but stiff. At first I could close the sheath with the knife inside and it took both hand to snap shut when the knife was not in it. I spent a couple of days rubbing neatsfoot oil on the scabbard where it needed to bend. Now it is usable and use will make it smooth and I plan to take it out with me next time I go on a wilderness search and rescue.

Excellent Tool
Needed a little sharpening to be really effective, but other than that, a good tool for working short brush and small branches.
