One Tough Sword
I've used this sword for almost a year now and couldn't be happier. It's basically a single, thick slab of steel that has two wooden scales bolted on each side for a handle. It feels (and is) very rugged and durable with quality materials and craftmanship. The sheath was a bit of a disappointment though. It arrived slightly scuffed and is made of a rigid leather that feels a bit lower quality than what I'm used to with Condor. It also lacks any loops or connection straps and serves only to protect to blade. So far I've used the Dadao several times in the country to trim large branches and chop firewood. I've also had fun chopping up old 1x4s boards and cedar posts in the backyard with it (can easily chop the 1x4s in one swing!). It's too big to replace a machete for all day carry, but is a fun alternative to a light axe for backwoods use. I really like the simple ergonomics of the handle, which allows for good control with either one or two hands. It can get a bit slippery if your hands get sweaty though. Overall, this is one of my favorite swords/machetes and one which I supect will last a lifetime, even with heavy use. A definite recommend if you're looking for a heavy duty chopping blade.
