Compact sand mover
I purchesed this shovel to help with a plumbing project under the house. It worked great in the crawl space to get to a buried plumbing issue. It's spade material is a tad on the light side for real shovel work but it is fine for the kids to use in the garden or at the beach. It now lives in the trunk of my car as part of my highway kit. It takes up little space and should have no problem moving snow and fist sized chunks of ice.

It will dig....
It's a shovel, it digs. I bought a pair of these for my kids so that they could "assist" in taking out my back lawn and laying down gravel--but mostly so that they would quit sniping my shovels whenever I turned my back. The handles are too short for most things, but they came in really useful when it was time to unload a wheelbarrow that couldn't be dumped. No choking up required, and that T-handle on the end allowed a lot of leverage. The steel is nice quality and moves a lot more dirt than a trowel or my Cold Steel shovel when there wasn't room for a full size tool. At this price, I can put longer handles on them if I want and have a better short shovel than I would get at the big box store.

perfect beach shovel
I use this short, big bladed, dull, oddly curved head shovel to take to the beach and dig holes for my kids. its perfect for that. But I don't know what other use it would have. The edge is dull and head so big wide and dull and curved I cannot see it going into hard dirt.. This is why i put design as a pro and a con. Its also short enough to fit perfectly in a beach bag. and the edges tip up to hold a big shovel full of sand.
