Simple and sturdy
The head locks into any of three positions in 90 degree increments. The photo above shows one configuration (right, middle) that the shovel does not lock in. Head is tightened by turning a knurled collar. Head does not wobble. Mine came with black finish and no "Condor eye" hole in the blade--fine with me. Black end of handle is textured (sandy) paint of some kind. Will be using in raised bed garden. Straight sides of blades will fit against 2x6 garden walls and break up soil in corners, as well as leveling out the surface when done. Not every detail is absolutely perfect but it's plenty good enough for a shovel and just fine at this price.

Claw Folding Shovel
This shovel will be used for camping. I haven't used it in the field yet, but the shovel appears solid and capable. I had to try this product, as I have never owned a shovel with this shape and configuration! I'll keep you posted.

Definitely a good shovel
I've had this for about 6 years now. Abused it, left it outside in the rain, left it drying in the sun after, and it's still in serviceable shape. I used it for growing a small vegetable garden and it worked in all aspects. I really didn't need much else, aside from a small axe to get through the occasional root. This is also a good shovel to keep in the back of your car to dig yourself out of snow/ice in the winter.
