Description
CR2367: Lucas Burnley Designed Obake
CRKT

Custom knifemaker Lucas Burnley has designed this Obake model for Columbia River. It's a remarkably thin profile fixed blade that should be very easy to carry and comes with a belt loop that can be attached to the sheath. The sheath has a lanyard with a skull bead on it -looks very cool! The cord wrapped handle feels good and secure in one's grip and the ray skin underneath looks nice. Also high styled on this beauty is the etched pattern on the blade. Burnley creates similar knives at the custom level but this one is a fantastic deal. It's thin, light, very nicely made and very affordable. We like this knife at the KnifeCenter very much.

It says something about you: just walk away.

The Obake by Lucas Burnley is bold. It's a throwback to a classic Japanese Kwaiken design that's ready to throw down, if trouble turns up. The distinctive blade of this full tang fixed blade knife has a gray titanium nitride finish that is acid etched to give it a unique pattern that will be exclusive to each fortunate owner. The handle has a katana style nylon cord wrap over a black faux ray skin.

The sheath of the Obake is made from glass filled nylon that will give consistent retention even in hot environments. A paracord lanyard on the sheath is designed to attach to your belt loop and keep the sheath in place when you deploy the knife. A skull bead adds a not-so-subtle accent to the paracord lanyard.

This small fixed blade knife comes with a sturdy belt carry system and hardware that attaches to the grommets on the sheath.

The Obake isn't looking for work, but it shows up looking like a boss when it's time to get a job done.

Waterproof, scratch resistant, and low friction. It will hold its shape and makes a great alternative to leather.

Pros: Materials, Overall Quality, Sheath/Scabbard, Finish, Handle Material, Blade Material, None
Cons: Blade Sharpness, Weight
Small, Concealable Blade
Another winner from CRKT delivered by KnifeCenter. To me, the only drawback is weight, as I would wish it a tad more blade-heavy. I liked the TiNi finish, which as proved to be surprisingly durable, the cord-wrapped handle with excellent grip & its durable and flexible carry system which keeps it accessible 'til needed(once configured properly). It compares favorably to others costing much more yet you feel as if you got more than you bargained for(or hoped for).To me it seems most consumer-friendly of the Burnley line, as it could ALMOST be construed cutting line or chopping vegetables on a block. As single-minded a purpose as it seems to have, in that purpose it does very well, with little fuss & for not a lotta dough.

Excellent steel
Excellent knife for every day use. The long sharp point is very useful for that purpose. I use a 10 inch 3 sided Jewelstick, diamond rod, to sharpen it. I use the middle grade only on the jewelstick for sharpening it. This steel does very well for holdening a sharp edge. It sharpens beyond belief and is not that hard to sharpen. Why other manufacturers do not use this steel in their knives is beyond me. I believe they make several other grades above this steel which makes me wonder how good they are for use in knives. This is a Chinese steel used in this knife which surprised me since so much of their steel used in bolts etc., seems to be to soft and not heat treated. I don't know how well this knife would do being used to prying. I use it for cutting only and use some other tool that is made for prying with.
