CR2916: 2916 Otanashi no Ken
As a veteran and current martial arts practitioner/instructor, James Williams knows cutlery—especially the tactical variety. So, it's no surprise that his Hissatsu™ knife designs have quickly become mainstays within the military Special Forces and tactical Law Enforcement communities across the globe.
Whether a folding or fixed blade knife variation, these are focused, single-purpose knives, for use in close quarters battle (CQB) environments, either as a primary or a secondary weapon to augment the handgun in the hands of well-trained professionals.

The Otanashi noh Ken was designed by James Williams per a request from SOCOM for a larger, thinner, folding combat knife that was easy to carry and conceal.

The Osoraku style blade, made famous by the 16th century Samurai warlord Takeda Shingen, is efficient and effective. This knife has a longer blade than the Hissatsu Folder and yet is slimmer to carry than the popular Heiho folding knife.

The Otanashi noh Ken and Hissatsu knife designs were developed for exceptional penetrating ability in tactical use situations.

The clip allows deep, inconspicuous, carry and the frame lock design is for strength and simplicity in operations.

James Williams' work with worldwide military Special Operations and his extensive classical Samurai training means that this knife is designed to perform at the highest level, when you need it most.

Cons: Blade Sharpness
Easy to open for me and my hands are not big. Good fit and finish. As advertised. No real complaints, could have been a little sharper.

Efficient penetrator and slicing blade in a mostly conveniant package
This is an excellent knife! Size is just right for me, carries very comfortable. Blade was easy-shaving sharp out of the box. This is the pointiest knife I ever owned. Its literally a needle, you may stab yourself into the finger and not even notice until the red sauce appears ^^ Cuts very nicely also. Manual opening takes some time to get used to. I would have really liked a real WAVE feature here, although you can kind of wave it open, but its like 50/50 chance. Flick of wrist is the optimum method, gets smoother with time. Apply some Ballistol. Also I think an auto-lawk for the frame-lock would be kind of more convenient, but thats just my preference. Workmanship is very good, the handle is completely flawless. Grind on serrations is not 100% optimum, but they totally work as advertised ^^ IMO CRKT has some of the best build quality in the industry. If they would give their fixed blades more practical sheaths they would be top. My new EDC :)
