CR5240: Nirk Tighe 2 - Designed by Glenn Klecker and Brian Tighe
Once your eyes lock on to the artistry in the skeletonized handle, you begin to see the true purity of the Nirk™ Tighe form.

Brian Tighe and Glenn Klecker reinterpreted the Klecker NIRK™ folder with stainless steel being stamped and machined into a very dynamic, functional design. The steel frame is not only visually exciting, but offers a formidable cutting tool handle as well. Glenn's patent pending integral lockback mechanics are such that, the tighter you grip the handle—the stronger the blade lock-up. Brian's drop point blade design flows nicely from the handle shape, and its subtle recurve along the cutting edge is a nice touch as well. To keep the blade action smooth, a specially caged mini ball bearing system affords fast and smooth operation. A custom removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip is provided.

Brian Tighe
Brian Tighe is a Canadian "Renaissance man": tool and die maker, photographer and extraordinary custom knifemaker and CRKT knife designer. He says, "I started making knives because I always carried one and had a passion for them. When I was first introduced to custom knives, I knew I could make them as well, got hooked and never looked back. I knew from my experience how to cut metal, what tools were needed and how to achieve the top fit and finish. I test my knives by carrying one every day, and I use it for everything I need to do around the house and work. I also get a lot of feedback from customers who use my knives to make their living." Pat Covert of American Handgunner has said, "Brian Tighe has risen from the rank and file of edged weapons artisans to the rarified air of the top 10 elite. His sense of design is extraordinary, his pride of workmanship exemplary. These are qualities that have propelled Tighe to the top." His custom workshop is in Ridgeville, Ontario.

Pros: Handle Material, Overall Quality, Lock Ease of Use, Weight, Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, None
Cons: Handle Feel
Gorgeous, hesitate to call an edc
I love the creative design of this knife. The closing mechanism is pretty genius, however it adds a degree of movement to the handle that I have not previously had in a knife. The blade has no play when locked, but you can squeeze the whole contraption when folded. Take it for what you will, it makes me a little nervous. However, the knife blade is very sharp, am excellent shape, and the handle is beautiful. It is also surprisingly light. Overall I would highly recommend it.

Pros: Handle Material, Overall Quality, Lock Ease of Use, Handle Feel, Ease of Opening, Lock Type
Cons: None
CRKT may not make the most expensive knives, but they certainly do not skimp on quality and variety. The Nirk Tighe 2 arrived and I opened it one-handed to reveal the extraordinarily contoured and sharp blade. After much admiration of the handle and the fantastic coloring used I knew it was time to check the mechanism for flaws. I am not afraid to admit that it did actually take me a while to work out how to close the blade! When my brain eventually kicked into gear, I closed it and it worked brilliantly if only a little bit stiff. Absolutely adore this knife as it incorporates everything I look for when adding to my collection: beauty, definite uniqueness and flawless quality. One of those knives that you will enjoy looking at as well as using!
