Description
CR9060: 9060 Zilla-Tool
CRKT

Launce Barber and Tom Stokes designed the patented Zilla-Tool as part of our innovative I.D. Works line of tools. It really is the monster tool, with a comfortable ergonomic handle that lets you get a lot of work done.

The pliers jaws are spring loaded, with a slight needle nose taper. They have both fine flat and circular toothed gripping surfaces. Near the base of the pliers, is a very useful wire cutter and also a notch near the handle for wire stripping.

You can store the two screwdriver hex bits in the Zilla-Tool's handle reliefs. It also accepts other standard hex bits.

To open the knife blade quickly, just press the little "flipper." It also acts as a blade guard when the blade is open.

Metallic surfaces are bead-blast, while the Zilla-Tool's rugged scales are injection molded black glass filled nylon.

The custom stainless steel clip will hold the Zilla-Tool in your pocket or on gear, or it can be removed if you want to use the included nylon sheath with belt loop and snap closure.

The Zilla-Tool can open bottles too, using the end of its pliers handle.

Awesome
Found this tool to be very useful. Use it around the workshop. Has a good feel to it, very hefty and well made.. Blade is sharp right out of the box.. Pliers are comfortable to use. Has a nice carrying case.

Huge!
I expected this thing to be big, but it's really enormous! Too big for EDC in my opinion. The locking blade didn't flip out easily at all. Maybe it's the lubricant they used, but it drags and will not open one-handed no matter how much wrist action I put into it. I purchased this mostly for the 1/4" bit function and good-looking plier. There are a couple of very specific bits I need to carry for work. My plan was to combine the Zilla with the Getaway Driver and swap out the bits I need to carry. See my review on the Getaway Driver to understand why this didn't work. The tool seems to be solidly constructed. The plier function looks really useable, but the bottle-opener/handle seems awkward. Unfortunately, I tried to loosen the tool up with penetrating oil, as the lubricant applied at the factory seemed to have turned to a thick gel. Sticky. When I sprayed penetrant into the tool, the combination of the two lubricants became hard, sticky, intractable. I still haven't found something to remove the mess with. *Overall impression: good ideas, under developed. *Attractive overall design, but huge, heavy. *A real bottle opener easily deployed would be a plus. *Size counts - this is just too big for EDC. *Whatever the factory uses for lubrication is a real looser IMO. *An accessory to carry more 1/4" hex bits would be really attractive.

Pros: Finish, Overall Quality, Included Tools
Cons: Locking, None
Good Tool
The handle is not clunky like many multi-tools; this makes use of the knife and screw drivers feel more natural. It also fits nicely on the belt. With all this being said, the lock for the pliers is not balanced properly; so it tends to stick. Not a huge issue, but it needs improvement. Overall, great tool.
