This light weight Hawk is a joy to use too as it reduces wrist, elbow and shoulder strain without sacrificing anything in chopping power or ease of handling. The merits of its light weight are revealed in combat too because the Frontier Hawk can be used at light speed from any angle and immediately recovered!

Drop Forged Tomahawks

These superb tomahawks are precision drop forged from 1055 carbon steel. Drop forging is, without doubt, the best method of manufacture for any impact weapon, particularly one with a cutting edge. During the forging process a metal ingot is heated almost white hot and then formed into shape in a series of progressive dies. The large steel dies are fixed to enormous compressed air hammers. Each die hammers the hot metal into a gradually more finished shape. The steel is kneaded and compressed into a completely homogeneous mass making the grain structure uniform and minimizing gas pockets or other imperfections that can ruin the construction of a hand forged hawk. This is why most good axes, hatchets and hammers are drop forged. These hawks are differentially heat treated. This means that the cutting edge and hammer face is fully hardened, while the balance is left relatively soft to absorb the shock of striking blows.

This is a piece of junk
When the product arrived, there was fully an eighth of an inch of the of play between the head of the tomahawk and the haft. This was both vertically and horizontally. Bottom line--the head was so loose it was dangerous. The head is secured by a single set screw to the handle, which must be removed and the handle replaced in order to make the tomahawk safe to use as anything other than a stage prop. CANNOT recommend.

Solid working tool
Great tomahawk for working. I read a lot of reviews where the head didn't fit like it should have but it has yet to be an issue with me. Used it to chop down a 6in thick tree, didn't break a sweat. Now I don't like this for throwing. For whatever reason it seems to hit on the top of the ax head, connecting where the wood sticks out on top. Still for the price I got can't beat it.

I bought 3 of these for my husband for Christmas. They are great! Except one of the handles arrived damaged and split in half after a few uses.
