Kopis Machete

The Kopis Machete is modeled closely on an ancient sword design that was held in high esteem by the Greeks, Romans, and Spaniards. This was because its uniquely shaped blade had the weight forward balance that was optimal for cutting and chopping, yet it retained a sharp useful point for thrusting as well. Our Kopis Machete is equipped with a traditional semi-D ring guard reinforced throughout by the steel tang and is delivered with a sturdy, thick nylon sheath.

Pros: None
Cons: Overall Quality, Blade Material, Finish
Was cool looking for the price and I have some other cold steel products I'm very satisfied with. But the edge of the blade warped in two places immediately when I used it. Might have just gotten one with a bad heat treat.I returned the product and purchased a kershaw camp knife. Im hoping the blade will be a little thicker

Pros: Overall Quality, Weight, None
Cons: Blade Sharpness, Finish
Mass Produced Quality
First thing I noticed was the gnarly burr on the blade edge, not the kind that a leather strop can remove. You'll need a sharpening system to fix the edge. Also the black paint dried while runny in some spots. The grip is a little large so that it slips and shifts in my hand when I swing it. I'll need to add some grip tape. Other than those small problems, this machete/short-sword is worth the low price. The first time I drew it from the sheath, the spine slid along a metal button and made that "shing" noise you hear in the movies. It also makes the same noise when sharpening...just thought that was nice.

Awesome handling!
I've used my Kopis machete for brush clearing and I keep it with my bug-out bag. I really like the grip design: helps to keep it in your hand. The curved blade is great for clearing brush, chopping, etc. I think the only complaint I have, and what I would have wanted to know before buying, is the grip is a bit slick.....I roughed mine up with sandpaper and hit it with spray-on truck bed paint. Now it's sticks in the hand well. Overall a totally awesome blade!
