Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
Wood Handles
Wood Handles
Provides a traditional, natural look and feel to a modern tool. Wood absorbs shock well and is popular in axe handles.

Nordic Refinement
This was my first EKA knife I ever owned, and I was impressed from the moment I opened the box. EKA packages these knives like luxury items, which is quite appropriate given the refinement and attention to detail that has been put into them. The 12c27 steel doesn't seem like much metallurgically, but EKA seems to know how to treat it to get a strong and dependable performance. The partial hollow grind adds further to its cutting power. The handle is decidedly scandinavian--polished hardwood wrapped around the tang--but still leaves the spine of the tang visible. I find that it is comfortable to work with, although I prefer to have a bit more protection from slippage (a hilt, or deep texturing) when doing tough jobs. I rarely give 5-star ratings, but this one came really close in my opinion.
