Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Handle Material, Blade Material, Materials, Weight, Overall Quality, Finish
Cons: Blade Sharpness, None
I've come to like having a fixed blade and folder on me, however size does matter. I am a huge fan of D2 steel and hadn't ordered a KA-BAR in literally years. Upon seeing this nice fixed blade I decided to just go for it and was not disappointed.... Handle material is fantastic and aesthetically the entire thing is gorgeous. It should be noted that the entire package is a LOT shinier in person than photos show, which isn't a bad thing at all aside from that ever so dichotomy of wanting to use a fine knife but not wanting to scuff it up.Weight is great, sheath is good leather (I carry it full vertical, so if you decide another way be careful), but the one thing I have to complain about is the blade sharpness... Universally when I get a new knife I do the paper test and this thing couldn't even bite into copy paper. I was really disappointed by that considering USA made KA-BAR's I own have destroyed this test many times in the past with their factory edge. I took it to my Edge Pro Apex and it did take a magnificent high polish with a truly fine edge... I was just surprised that the factory edge was actually rather dull, to the point where even sliding your fingers lightly up and down the blade had no bite.
