Kershaw Knives

Get your hands on a Whirlwind and you won’t want to let go. This one will be your constant companion whether you’re on the jobsite, working in the garage, or doing chores around the house. The first thing you’ll notice is how this big handful of a knife nestles into your palm.

The ergonomic design and the tough, glass-filled nylon handle scales provide a grip that's comfortable, secure, and ensures that you’re always in control of the cut. Next, of course, you’ll want to try out the razor-sharp blade. Just push on the thumbstud and—twack!—the SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism moves the blade out of the handle and it locks securely into place, ready for use.

The blade is a classic drop-point, perfect for handling a wide range of tasks—pretty much anything you care to throw at it. The blade steel is high-performance 14C28N. Developed in a partnership between Kershaw and Sandvik Steel, it offers excellent corrosion resistance, hardness, and edge retention. In fact, Sandvik considers this the highest-performance steel available that can still be fine-blanked. We would have to agree. But the only way you’re going to know for yourself is to get a Whirlwind of your own.

My Favorite Daily Carry
I have carried this knife for over 4 years. Despite it's weight and length, it actually is a comfortable knife to handle and carry. I love it. It clips on my pocket easily and draws easily and opens effortlessly with a solid thwack. I have used the knife in nearly every type of situation ... work, on wood, cutting wire, prying, filleting meat, cutting veggies, cutting various things like rubber, plastic, cardboard, etc. The combo blade is great .. when one part will not cut easily the other will. It has been used and abused. When it gets too nasty or dull, I send it back to Kershaw and w/in a couple weeks it comes back shiney, sharp and looking like new! What more could one ask of a knife at this price point. Once, I was about to be mugged, but when the mugger saw me draw it and heard the thwack, he quickly made an about face. I have about 7 additional Kershaws in my collection, but this one is my everyday carry.

Fit and finish is excellent blade opens when you press on the thumstud with a twack . No blade play sideways or up and down. Blade snaps open as smooth as velvet and locks in place the blade was razor sharp, I am very pleased with this purchase. As usual the service from Knife Centre was super,

Not my favorite
I bought this knife over8 years ago as a replacement i found it too heavy to carry around so it was regulated to my tool box. The assisted opening is quick and solid. The blade requires little mantenace but the payoff is it doesn't hold a great edge. I have several knives and i would say this is the least used. Simply because it does not keep a good edge iand t is too heavy to carry around in my pocket.
