Kershaw® Knives

This is No Ordinary Onion.

The shallot onion is one of the world’s favorite ways to spice up a cuisine. And the all-stainless-steel Kershaw Shallot, designed by Ken Onion, is destined to spice up your knife collection.

For this one, we’ve peeled away the layers, leaving nothing but superb form, keen function, and pure stainless-steel. The Shallot features a Sandvik 13C26 recurve blade. The unique recurve blade design provides for low mass and high performance, while the 13C26 steel offers excellent hardness, corrosion, and wear resistance. This high-carbon chromium steel provides for a high quality blade ideal for a wide range of both everyday and extraordinary tasks.

This exceptional blade is partnered with a sleek stainless-steel handle designed for a sure, ergonomic grip. The handle is built of 410 stainless-steel—hardened and tempered to provide maximum strength. For safety, there’s a convenient frame lock to secure the blade in position until you choose to releases it. Both blade and handle are polished to a steely matte-gray finish. Or, if you prefer the dark, choose the Black Shallot, with a smooth or partially serrated blade featuring a Tungsten DLC (diamond like carbon) coating.

The Shallot features our SpeedSafe® assisted opening system with ambidextrous index-finger opening. Just pull back on the blade protrusion with the index finger of either the left or right hand. The SpeedSafe® system then moves the blade out of the handle and smoothly and easily into position, ready for use.

The Shallot is a pocket-perfect 4-3/8 inches closed and weighs just 4.2 ounces. It is made in the USA and built to uphold Kershaw’s high standards of quality and performance. Like the tasty shallot it’s named for, the Kershaw Shallot is sure to make your mouth water for more.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Lock Type, Blade Material, Ease of Opening, Overall Quality
Cons: None
A reliable work knife
One of 3 Ken Onion models, ( the Leek being the 2nd largest, and the Chive being the smallest ) the Shallot is the largest of the 3. This model is just a wise decision to purchase if you're looking for a work knife with a nice smooth cutting capability. The Tungsten DLC coating on the blade and handle make it easy to clean, is durable, and adds to the nice smooth cut the blade has to offer. Be forewarned that the handle may feel a little slippery to some, but in my opinion, has a nice sleek feel. The Shallot is a tough reliable work knife that's worth the price. :).

Black Shallot
Ordered the Shallot for EDC as I like my Ken Onion Leek, but wanted a bit more blade. My knife arrived in very good condition with blade centered and zero play. The blade is indeed stouter with a thicker tip than the Leek ( never damaged the blade tip on my Leek pulling staples from reports etc. but at times was concerned. ) Added bonus is even though the black handles are smooth which aids removing the knife from your pocket, the handle shape feels secure.

Bought this for a new EDC and work knife. I work in a shipyard and this knife can really take a beating! Holds a good edge but also sharpens very nice! Perfect size for just about anything.
