KS1840CKTDAM Black handle and Black and Silver Damascus blade on the full size Shallot
This is No Ordinary Onion.

The shallot onion is one of the world's favorite ways to spice up a cuisine. The Kershaw Shallot, designed by Ken Onion, is destined to spice up your knife collection.

For this one, we've peeled away the layers, leaving nothing but superb form, keen function, stainless-steel handle, and a damascus steel blade. The Shallot features a damascus steel recurve blade. The unique recurve blade design provides for low mass and high performance and is ideal for a wide range of both everyday and extraordinary tasks.

This exceptional blade is partnered with a sleek stainless-steel handle designed for a sure, ergonomic grip. The handle is built of 410 stainless-steel—hardened and tempered to provide maximum strength. For safety, there's a convenient frame lock to secure the blade in position until you choose to releases it.

The Shallot features our SpeedSafe® assisted opening system with ambidextrous index-finger opening. Just pull back on the blade protrusion with the index finger of either the left or right hand. The SpeedSafe® system then moves the blade out of the handle and smoothly and easily into position, ready for use.

The Shallot is a pocket-perfect 4-3/8 inches closed and weighs just 4.2 ounces. It is made in the USA and built to uphold Kershaw's high standards of quality and performance. Like the tasty shallot it's named for, the Kershaw Shallot is sure to make your mouth water for more.

Heck yes!
This is my favorite Kershaw. To the guy who gave it 3 stars and said it is finicky, I can't disagree more. I've carried this knife in the field for three years and have had zero issues. I do put tool oil on it once in a while, but that's it. I like my Leek a lot too, but the Scallion is just a bit bigger and fits me perfectly. The finish is weathered now and still looks great, like an old Jean jacket. The slim design is ideal for EDC, I don't even notice it in my back pocket. The metal scales are incredibly smooth, almost like a worry stone. At the same time, the shape makes the grip so good I have no problem getting through tough jobs. I've put this knife through he** and it's still asking for more work. Yes, the release is stiffer than the Leek, but I'm an adult male and can handle a couple pounds of pressure.
