KS4030TIKVT: 4030TIKVT Nura 3.0
Kershaw Knives
Kershaw Knives joined forces with Belarusian knife maker Dmitry Sinkevich to create the Nura 3.0. With its 3-inch blade, the Nura 3.0 is a right-sized knife. For the same style in a larger knife, check out the Nura 3.5.

Sinkevich's personal emphasis is on knives that incorporate intelligent design, state-of-the-art materials, and have a strong emphasis on quality fit and finish. That made him a natural fit with Kershaw and our own dedication to innovation and quality.

The new Nura features Kershaw’s KVT ball-bearing system for smooth, easy opening without a mechanical assist. Instead, the user pulls back on a flipper and the blade moves out of the handle quickly and easily. The key is a washer with caged ball bearings that surrounds the pivot and makes opening the knife nearly frictionless.

The Nura handle design has a sleek, streamlined look and feel. The blade is quality stainless steel, heat treated to Kershaw’s demanding specifications to bring out the best qualities in the steel, then titanium carbo-nitride coated for additional protection and performance. The slim handle is made of stainless steel with machined grooves that provide style and extra grip. The handle is titanium carbo-nitride coated, then sanded to reveal a shiny steel surface. A frame lock provides blade lockup security.
  • Flipper - May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The “flipper” is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
  • Manual - There is no mechanical assist, such as SpeedSafe, used to open the folding knife. It opens the classic, old-school way.
  • Frame Lock - A portion of the handle (the knife frame) moves behind the blade to lock it into position during use. This is a safety feature of the knife.
  • Single Position - The pocketclip is in a fixed position on the knife handle; usually it is positioned for tip-down, right-handed carry, though this may vary.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, Lock Type, None
Cons: Weight, Ease of Opening, Handle Material
Not impressed!
Great design poor flipping performance. When using the flipper you have to use your wrist to get it to deploy, the detent is to weak. Only reason for 3 stars is the fact it came Sharp and has kvt.

A Must Buy at this prie point!
Sharp, smooth, my new EDC. Highly recommended. Could be a bit on the heavy side if you like lightweight knives, feels "solid", but not bulky...fairly slim too.

Great buy
I did a lot of research on knife steels and brands while selecting this knife. I was looking for a replacement for my EDC, a Frost Silver Hawk, and wanted something around the same size. Unfortunately this knife is significantly larger... BUT I LOVE IT. I don't think I'll ever go back to a small pocket knife. Anyways, I chose 8Cr13MoV because it offers great value and I didn't want to spend a fortune on a knife that I might not like. There's some reviews out there that say this material is crap, but the truth is that it all depends on the heat treatment (HT). My hunting knife is a Kershaw and I like it and my dad has owned a couple Kershaws that were reliable so I was fairly confident that they would be able to achieve the proper HT. I was not wrong. Out of the box the knife was able to shave the hairs off my arm. It has held its edge very well, withstanding a month of use (opening boxes and plastic packaging, cutting nylon cord...) without sharpening. The flip function needs a little wrist assist, but it's easily opened. The lock function was a bit difficult to get used to since I'm mostly familiar with lockbacks; I cut myself once, but I've got the hang of it now. If I'd known how great this knife was I'd have been willing to pay full price for it, but at ~$18 it is a STEAL!!! I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a light duty EDC.
