The Leatherman Wave multi-tool is hands down Leatherman's most popular model, made famous by its outside-accessible blades that can be deployed with just one hand. When Leatherman redesigned it in 2004, they gave the Wave larger knives, stronger pliers, longer wire cutters, and all-locking blades. Perfect for any job, adventure, or everyday task, the Wave multi-tool is an international best-seller.

420HC Stainless Steel: An improved, high-carbon (HC) form of 420 stainless steel that works well with high production tooling. 420HC's strength is optimized in Leatherman multi-tools by heat treatment.

Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.

Not impressed
Oki, so Ill give it a 3, because my copy might have had some issues. First off, sorry for my bad English, Im Scandinavian. My Wave broke after about a year when the pliers snaped in two trying to pull a small to medium size nail out of a wooden board. It might have been a issue with my copy, but the steel seemed very brittle when inspecting the broken erea.I replaced it with a spirit x as I have yet to have a sak fail on me. Anyways, Im not impressed with LM, but Im still willing to give them another shot.

Never faulters
I never thought of myself as a person to carry around a multitool and knew nothing of the sort when I received one as a gift after joining the Marine Corps But within the first 3 days I had it, I used it at least a dozen times. If you run into any task, after a few siccessful uses, your first thought will be "Where's my LM Wave?" I never had to think about if it would hold up or if I should go easy with it. If you need it, it will come through for you. As you can see, I love this thing. A great assortment of tools for a guy (or girl) that doesn't need it for anything specific (like the Surge or EOD tools) but at the same time could need it for anything. I can thoroughly assure anybody that this is a baseline for all others to be compared.

shock wave
I bought my Wave 5 yrs ago, it did not fail me in most of the task. The only concern that I have is, if it is an authentic US made product or subcontracted China made copy? These items are quite expensive here in the Philippines and not every one can afford to own one, compare the ratio of a US dollar to pesos. I once thought, did I pay for a US product and got a China made version instead, I hope not! But then again the usability is unquestionable.
