Diamonds Should Be a Guy's Best Friend
I should have sent this back. I just didn't do it. Since purchasing this, I have bought Medium and Fine DMT stones (continuous). This very much coarser than the medium DMT. The middle area is somewhat smooth, but the edges feel like 80 Grit sandpaper. I reckon I will get out a couple of my almost free CS whackers and try to smooth this down a bit. If you decide to order this, look at it quickly and send it back if you a get citrus fruit like I. I have a couple of Lansky sharpening products and just got one of their 440C folders. I have no problems with any of these. This is the second time in my career as a reviewer that I have relegated a product to the basement.

Great for the price!
This is a little coarse to be a fine, closer to a medium. The steel plate is a stamping and the corners are a little rounded down as a result. Other than that an awesome stone at a fantastic price. The stand has great rubberized non skid bottom that grips tabletops better than any other stone I have. Have used it on 440c, 420hc, N690, S30V & Elmax the diamonds cut as good as more expensive stones. I like the uninterrupted diamond surface compared to other diamond stones that have holes all over that catch blade tips or fine edges. I would buy again and will recommend it to others. Just treat it like a medium and have a different fine or extra fine stone to hone a finished edge on knives. This stone will leave a great edge on an axe or machete. Again, for the price this is a great value.

Sharpen dullest Blades Quickly
We have used these stones thousands of times.used on every knife steel M-390,Elmax,CM154,Schliepner,S30V etc, It cuts them all. These type stones do not get a bow in them and cut for years. Stones with various shapes and sized holes in the surface do not put as fine and even finish on the edge as these. When new there is a fair amount of"chafe" on the surface that must be worn off, once done they perform consistently. They don't state the grit size but I don't consider these to be fine. They will take a dull edge to a usable edge and from there you can continue with ceramic or other finer abrasive to the desired edge. These are how ever fast, and have slip resistant base. For this price you can't make a mistake.
