Mantis Knives

The introduction of the "Bottleneck Family" was a milestone for the Mantis brand. This series of knives was our first collaboration with Hawk Designs of Idaho City, ID.

Gavin and Grant Hawk have long been friends of the Mantis organization, so it was only natural that we eventually collaborated to bring knife enthusiasts one of the most unique gadgets that the knife-marketplace has ever seen.

The Bottleneck design boasts a bottle opener, butterfly knife which attaches effortlessly to any keyring with it's integral handle/latch configuration.

Pros: Lock Type, None
Cons: Blade Material, Overall Quality, Lock Ease of Use, Ease of Opening, Blade Sharpness
Looks Cool, Performs Poor
I purchased this on a whim, and even though it looked as though it was thought out very well, the marketing and thought behind it was not very well tested. I received this knife rather dull and used it only about twice. I did add it to my key chain and I will add was very careful with my keys as they were keys to a brand new truck. So there was no abuse there. I did, only a few weeks later find a screw missing that made the knife inoperable in the main joint from the blade to the handle. I believe these maybe should be pins or some sort of more permanent but easier joint fixture. A waste of money that didn't even serve as a conversation piece.

I got "Screwed"
I just like so many other bought this for the looks and the price. However when I began reading I saw that you could attach it to your key ring and that is how I decided to use the knife. When I first received the knife, You could barely open it, it was so stiff. Besides that the knife itself was very intriguing for a key ring knife. However, the knife itself did not even last two weeks on the ring until a screw backed out and I found the knife not viable. the knife would no longer close or pivot, as the screw that was lost also had a washer at the base of the blade. I would not recommend this knife, unless your just wanting a conversation piece that you won't use or do anything with. You can do that with a Twenty dollar bill as well.

Damm small #2
to add to my previous it a STRETCH to call the blade 1.99". That's the entire length of the metal making up the blade, it has a working, cutting length of 1 3/8".
