Description
MNTTA2XL: TA-2XL Master
Mantis Knives

We call this the "Master". This is a larger version of our popular smaller series (Ta2). We added what you were asking for, a larger deep sweep belly designed blade, and a gut hook. This makes a great skinning knives as well as a good all-around fixed blade carry. The grip is made of ZR rated rubber that gives you the grip and feel that you all have said you liked in our regular series. We are using M-vx steel with all the TA2Xl series. The polymer sheath is interchangeable from horizontal carry to vertical carry.

A $20 skinner
To be honest, I bought the knife because of the impressive discount that Knifecenter advertised for this knife. What I got was a $20 knife (what I paid), not a $120 knife (ERV). The design is pretty cool, and the sheath is relatively high quality, but the overall practicality of the knife is limited. The handle is narrow and not very ergonomic, and the depth of the belly makes smaller game skinning nearly impossible. Also Mantis seemed proud of their new MvX steel, but I found it too hard to be practical. All attempts at sharpening the knife (which I regularly use to keep my other blades shaving sharp) only dulled this knife further.
