ESEE Knives
Since 1997 Randall's Adventure & Training has designed no-nonsense, affordable field knives specifically targeted to military, law enforcement, and the special operations community. Many of their knives now serve in combat zones around the globe. The knives have a "no questions asked" lifetime warranty. ESEE Knives is also setting the standard for many local, state and federal law enforcement officers when it comes to high performance, compact sheath knives with multiple carry options. The NTOA scored the 3-inch fixed blade a 4.77 out of a possible 5. In addition to knives, ESEE also offers survival, land navigation, tracking and other training courses along with free survival information.

The ESEE-5 was designed by military SERE instructors as a hard-use downed pilot’s survival knife. With its 0.25" blade thickness, it's a big fixed blade that's tough, durable and practical. These knives are made from high carbon 1095 steel. And while 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for - especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH. The handles have Micarta scales that are durable and water resistant. The knife also features spine jimping, full tang construction, lanyard hole, and a glass breaker. The knife comes with a Kydex sheath, clip plate, paracord lanyard, and cord lock.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Kydex Sheath
Kydex Sheath
Waterproof, scratch resistant, and low friction. It will hold its shape and makes a great alternative to leather.
Micarta Handles
Micarta Handles
Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.

What a beast of a knife
Have done a lot of Batoning with this knife and the finish has held up extremely well . The sheath is excellent and works well as I am left-handed and can be turned into a left-handed Carry I ordered this knife on a Sunday night and it was at my doorstep on Wednesday morning once again the Knife Center comes through with flying colors !

Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Materials, Overall Quality, Weight, Finish, Blade Material, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
This knife is definitely a TANK. Wicked sharp, the combo edge is amazing and the knife has a good heft. I'm not sure its possible to break this knife under normal use. Kydex sheath is very nice and provides a secure lock-up and has a nice retention screw that makes drawing the knife out extremely difficult (like a child safety) when fully engaged. Again, I wanna stress that this knife is hefty. I just wish the blade was a bit longer to go along with the weight, but all in all, I LOVE this knife. Very satisfied!

A very solid knife - rock solid
If you are looking for a small knife that won't add much weight to your gear, this is NOT what you want. This is a solid chunk of steel clearly made to handle business and endure punishment. Due to the high carbon steel content it is supposedly very susceptible to rust. I coated mine with Tuf-Glide and so far have noted no signs of corrosion after a few weeks on my kit. The scales are a little quirky coming on and off and I would not recommend removing them frequently. Supposedly the screws can be easy to strip by over tightening and I could see how that might happen but they could easily be replaced if you did this. A lot of reviews I read recommended not removing the scales for cleaning and just letting the scales air dry after cleaning with really hot water. The hot knife will supposedly dry the micarta scales pretty quickly.
