ESEE Knives
Since 1997 Randall's Adventure & Training has designed no-nonsense, affordable field knives specifically targeted to military, law enforcement, and the special operations community. Many of their knives now serve in combat zones around the globe. The knives have a "no questions asked" lifetime warranty. ESEE Knives is also setting the standard for many local, state and federal law enforcement officers when it comes to high performance, compact sheath knives with multiple carry options. The NTOA scored the 3-inch fixed blade a 4.77 out of a possible 5. In addition to knives, ESEE also offers survival, land navigation, tracking and other training courses along with free survival information.

The ESEE-6 is a wilderness survival and tactical knife that might just be the best all-around fixed blade on the market. With its 0.1875" blade thickness, it's the perfect blend between toughness and cutting efficiency all in a very svelte package. If you can only choose one fixed blade, then the ESEE-6 is the one for us! These knives are made from high carbon 1095 steel. And while 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for - especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH. The handles have Micarta scales that are durable and water resistant. The knife also features spine jimping, full tang construction, lanyard hole, and finger choil. The knife comes with a molded plastic sheath, clip plate, paracord lanyard, and cord lock.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Micarta Handles
Micarta Handles
Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.

ESEE 6 vs. RAT 7
I was all set to get the Ontario RAT7, but the fit and finish quality, ROWEN heat treatment, and better quality sheath on this convinced me it was worth squeezing the wallet a little more and getting the ESEE instead. Glad I did. Wow is this an amazing knife. When I got home, I immediately went to the backyard and picked a log off the pile to see how well it went through the normal tasks. It batons like a champ even on an 8" diameter log working from the outside in. Feathersticking is easy as well as the paper just shaves right up on the blade. The finger choil makes it super easy to notch with (though I still think I would pull out my Izula for that sort of work). After about a half hour of testing, it still felt sharp enough to prep food with. The folks at KC are amazingly helpful. Love you guys.

Top pick
For a well made, very well designed, out standing value, you just cant go wrong on this knife or any ESSE for that matter. I actually use this stuff for real work, not waiting for the zombies or the real enemy who is already here to attack. For real use or other future hopes and plans thisis a very very good chioce. You may spend allot more, i do, i have, you wont get any more knife in apractical sense. From here you would want to step up to the Reeve knives of similar style, otherwise dont waste you money. A treamendous value, if it is what you want and can use. Maintenance is is simple and very minimal.

Esee 6 combo blade
A well made knife with an unbeatable warranty. It's much lighter than most knives I'm used too, but that doesn't mean it's cheap. Fit and finish is well done and it's nice that it comes with a sheath and separately purchased accessories that enhances the effectiveness of the blade while in the outdoors. I highly recommend it!
