ESEE Knives
Since 1997 Randall's Adventure & Training has designed no-nonsense, affordable field knives specifically targeted to military, law enforcement, and the special operations community. Many of their knives now serve in combat zones around the globe. The knives have a "no questions asked" lifetime warranty. ESEE Knives is also setting the standard for many local, state and federal law enforcement officers when it comes to high performance, compact sheath knives with multiple carry options. The NTOA scored the 3-inch fixed blade a 4.77 out of a possible 5. In addition to knives, ESEE also offers survival, land navigation, tracking and other training courses along with free survival information.

The Candiru is the most compact knife that ESEE offers yet it is still a ferocious cutter. It, like the Izula, is designed for neck carry or to be a secondary backup knife should the need arise. These knives are made from high carbon 1095 steel. And while 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for - especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.

Excellent Little Knife
This is an amazing little knife--very sharp and sturdy for its size. Keep the blade edge oiled or treated to avoid rust in wet or damp environments. Optional handle scales vastly improve grip, but make it a bit bulkier to carry.

Pros: None
Cons: Blade Sharpness
Not even sharpened
When I buy a knife, even a very small one, I expect it to be at least well sharpened, out of the box. This was not the case with the Candiru. It isn't even able to cut a thin rope. I had to rub the blade against it several times. It took just one try to my Opinel n. 6 to cut it, just like that.

Fantastic utility blade
I'm a teacher at a local survival skills school here in Idaho. We teach law enforcement training and wilderness survival classes. I bought this knife to carry along with a larger fixed blade that I keep on my belt and it has performed admirably. The 1095 steel takes a razor edge with little work and holds it well, some people claim the edge retention is poor but with the heat treatment this has its works great. For everything from shaving sticks for fire tender to gutting grouse up in the high mountains this knife holds its own, and I know I'll be carrying it for a long time. Nice work again ESEE.
