RPDPHSX101: DPx HEST Original by Rowen
DPx Gear
The DPx H•E•S•T or Hostile Environment Survival Tool™ is the knife that started it all... the original, brutal-use everyday carry fixed survival blade. Made in America, used worldwide. DPx is now returning the knife to its original manufacturer, Shon Rowen and Micro Tool.

The DPx HEST Original changed the way professionals think of a survival blade. It had to be with you to be useful, and it couldn't fail when deployed. The HEST features an "over built" blade crafted from high-carbon 1095 hardened and tempered steel that delivers a 57-58 Rockwell hardness. A material that stands up to abuse and still takes quick strops in the field.

The HEST concept was created by adventurer Robert Young Pelton who applied his time in three dozen conflicts and adventures through more than 120 countries to come up with the perfect balance of concealability, utility and fail-safe operation in an innovative blade. You will find every aspect of the DPx HEST thought out: the balance, lashing points, thumb control, wire breaker and even the ability to remove the hollow Micarta® handles for use as a neck knife. The H•E•S•T comes with a KYDEX sheath, paracord and cord lock, belt clip kit, handle removal washer, pry bar, brass screws, and a no-questions-asked lifetime warranty that customers have come to expect from DPx Gear. Patent Pending.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Kydex Sheath
Kydex Sheath
Waterproof, scratch resistant, and low friction. It will hold its shape and makes a great alternative to leather.
Micarta Handles
Micarta Handles
Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.

Dpx customer for life
I use this as my edc knife. Its perfect size for belt carry, I did buy another sheath from Dpx for mine as mine had the DeSantis sheath which I didn't like (personal preference). The knife holds a edge well, and has made me a Dpx fan for sure. I'm soon to order another Dpx as soon as I decide which one I want! (Another great point, Dpx has extra micarta handles and better sheath's that can be ordered cheap and the customer service they provide is superb)

Nice, heavy well-built tool, not just a knife
Well-crafted hand-tool. More like a slab of steel with an edge. Took it out on its inaugural camping trip. Cut rope, food, opened a few bottles. Feels nice in the hands. Holds an edge. That pry bar on the end could be a mean weapon. Heft also makes a good hammer.
