Excellent helmet light-Could you reach that switch please?
I've always been suprised that Streamlight hasn't promoted this light more. It seems to be a natural for field use, and although I had a bit of difficulty attaching the helmet mount (sold seperately) to a civilian "hard hat" for use during civilian SARS work, the adapter is "tailor made" for attaching the light to a standard combat helmet. The light comes up each time the operator turns the light on in three stages of brightness. I've found this to be very helpful in conserving battery life as well as helping my eyes to adjust to the lowest amount of light possible. The only difficulty I've encountered is the problem of turning the light on/off, etc. while mounted on the helmet. The act of pulling the control knob out, then rotating it, left-handed, I believe, will leave a majority of potential users ergonomically challenged.

USGI Workhorse
The Streamlight Sidewinder is issued to many US troops and seen action in Afghanistan and Iraq both. The clip on the backside allows for easy attachment to a USGI kevlar helmet and the light offers 4 different colors. Depending on the model this could also include IR. Each light offers 3 intensity setting low, medium, and high as well as strobe. The head rotates from 90 to 180 degrees. It does not click into position that could give away your position to enemies. It is lightweight but built like a rock. It is sealed by O-rings which makes this very water resistant if not waterproof. The warranty and the construction of this product make it second to none. Can be worn on your shoulder strap of your backpack, kevlar helmet, or used on its own as a regular flashlight. This was the one flashlight that Dave Canterbury recommended. Tv series Dual Survival. I have owned mine for years and it is has never let me down. Believe me its been put through more than just a few days in the snow, heat, explosions, rain, hail, sleet, etc. This thing rocks! Yes it's expensive but if you want the best.. then here it is.
