SP12SBK2W: C12SBK2W Matriarch2 Lightweight Emerson Opener
If you want the quickest possible opening for your Matriarch2, the Matriarch2 with an Emerson Opening feature is just the ticket. The integral hook on the back of the blade snags the corner of your pocket as the knife is drawn, smoothly opening the blade as the knife clears the pocket.

The original Spyderco Matriarch was inspired by a request from our South African distributor for a more economical version of the Civilian. The Matriarch2 is the latest expression of that concept, combining the Civilian’s aggressive blade shape and Reverse "S" edge profile with the lightweight handle construction of the best-selling Endura4. The result is a knife that provides extreme cutting performance in a convenient, lightweight package. Its SpyderEdge VG-10 stainless steel blade is scientifically designed to maximize cutting performance and its sturdy back lock mechanism, four-position clip, and Trademark Round Hole ensure unmatched carry versatility and high-speed opening with either hand.

Great knife, a bit scary!
Ordered knife without Emerson mechanism but the knife I received has the mechanism. After practicing with it a bit, I love it. Extremely fast deploy. Not a toy, this knife requires practice and attention to technique. Great knife and a formidable visual deterrent. Highly recommend for a carry defense knife, not practical for other uses.

Matriarch 2
I have been a Spyderco fan for some time now. All I can say about this knife and its little brother is that they are: SICK!!! You can shred the entire skin off your arm with this Endura size blade. The serrations are ground to one side of the blade making this extra sharp like your razor blades. The reverse S shape point is just sick.......I would not want to be on the receiving end of this even if I was box that needed to be opened! Spyderco branded knives are one of the best value knives you can own that will not cost you an arm and a leg. There are blades that are considered "knife art" and then there are the worker blades. Spyderco are good worker blades. You will not be sorry if you buy this knife or its little brother. SICK!!!

Serious knife!
This is my first Spyderco. I never really liked their designs until I found the Matriarch 2. What drew me to this knife was the unique design of the blade and the Emerson wave opening feature. The bi-directional FRN scales are nice and grippy and the handle accommodates most if not all grip styles. The four position clip is great and just stiff enough to hold the knife securely in your pocket. Now for the blade.. Its 3.27" inch reverse-S serrated edge makes for one scary looking blade. The super sharp, claw-like tip just wants to dig in and cut through anything you point it at. I tested it on a thick piece of leather and it went through it like it was butter. This is definitely -not- a utility knife, but a serious self defense knife designed to be quickly deployed and easily inflict deep and debilitating cuts on an attacker. I would heartily recommend it to law enforcement officers, military personnel or anyone living in a bad neighborhood looking for something to keep you safe - or if you're mostly a collector like me. Buy this knife, you won't regret it! I
