SP302UF: Spyderco 302UF Ceramic Bench Stone, Ultra Fine
Because Spyderco's bench stones are flat and broad they are highly effective for honing wide tools like plane irons, chisels, large blades, woodworking equipment, even ski edges.

After many requests, Spyderco is now manufacturing an ultrafine-grit 2" x 8" x 1/2" bench stone. Ultrafine stones are ideal for professional polishing and finishing and can tighten the steel's sratch pattern bringing an already sharp edge to an even keener level. The stone comes packaged in a rigid polymer black storage case complete with non-skid rubber feet for tabletop use. As with all of Spyderco's ceramic stones, use our benchstones dry without lubricants or oils.

To clean: wash with fresh water and scrub metal particles from the stones with a plastic scouring pad and abrasive powered cleanser.

good but,.....
Stone was not flat along the longer (8") dimension. Needed about 1-2 hours on a diamond stone to get it flat. Across the shorter (2") dimension it was flat. Given how most would use the stone might not be an issue. Same non-flat was found on the medium bench stone but not to the degree of the ultrafine. Given the effort to flatten the stone I doubt it will require re-flattening even after years of use. In use it is only for the final honing, surface loads quickly requiring cleaning. It is not for edge grinding will take too long. Puts a mirror microbevel on a properly sharpened edge.

Good Stone -- Lousy Packaging From KnifeCenter
I bought this sharpening stone as a Christmas gift for my son. The stone cost $57.95 and the Knife Center shipping charge was $7.40, so it is expensive for a sharpening stone. I am sure the stone will work well since Spyderco makes quality products. The package arrived just moments ago via Priority Mail. When I opened it I found exactly one piece of paper wadded up as packing material, which did not near fill the empty space in the box. The stone itself was out of the factory blister pack as well as out of its plastic case. Stone, case and beat up blister package were all rattling around in the bottom of the box together. When I reached in to get the stone my thumb was sliced wide open. The hard plastic on the bottom of the blister package had been cut open on three sides so the stone could be removed, which left a flap of hard plastic sticking out which I could not see. Someone has obviously returned this stone after opening the bottom of the package. The Knife Center did not bother to tape the bottom closed before sending it to me. What I have is a Spyderco blister packaged sharpening stone which looks like it was first opened, then air dropped over Afghanistan. In this condition it would not make a very appealing Christmas present. The poor packing of the stone by Knife Center so that it arrived beat up and in pieces is bad enough. Add to that the fact that they sent a factory package which had been opened and the Knife Center did not even bother to tape the sharp edged flap back in place. Leaving the sharp edge of the package in place in a narrow shipping box created a safety hazard for anyone who reached in to retrieve the pieces of the package. That is sorry work on the part of whomever packaged this order at the Knife Center. I'm just lucky I reached into the box fairly slowly or I would likely be at Emergency Care getting stitched up right now. Me and my still bleeding thumb are not at all pleased with the shoddy work of the Knife Center.

Quality Ceramic Stone
I was hoping this stone would match the finish produced by a Case "Moon Stone". It does not, it is slightly coarser. The problem with the "Moon Stone " is that it's only 3 3/4" long; hard to use when sharpening a long blade. Plus, it's not available any longer... I tried the Spyderco Fine (it will hone an edge that will shave hair), then the ultra fine ( it will shave hair even better...). I'll be ordering the Med. as well. The ulra fine I purchased was a little too thin to use in the holder/case (not a big deal). The Fine was ok on thickness. Both are flat and cleaned up easily using a bar of lava soap and water. Also, both cut well. If Spyderco starts making a extra ultra fine I'd get that as well.
