SPFB23PBBK: FB23PBBK Black Aqua Salt
The Aqua Salt is an amazingly versatile, do-everything knife made even better with the benefit of an H-1 steel blade. Fans of this workhorse design—including many military personnel—were devastated when it was discontinued. Based on popular demand, the Aqua Salt is back and better than ever with a non-reflective titanium carbonitride (TiCN) blade coating. Available with a plain edge or spyder edge, its hollow-ground blade provides excellent edge geometry for effective cutting and edge retention, while its injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle features Bi-Directional Texturing for a rock-solid grip and superior control, even with wet hands. A matching injection-molded polymer sheath features a multi-position G-Clip for fully configurable belt or waistband carry and grommeted construction so it can be easily lashed or flex-tied to personal equipment.

Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Materials, Handle Material, Weight, Blade Material, None
Cons: Finish, Blade Sharpness
Excellent product
I’m a sea fisherman, and I bought this knife after much searching. I was looking for a knife with a sheath to protect the edge and a non-rusting steel that could tolerate sitting in my fishing box ready for action while being bounced around in the back of the car or boat without having to worry about it rusting. This knife ticks all the boxes.Pros, While in use the knife is soaked in salt water then put back into its sheath and tossed into the box and can remain there for days before being used again – no rust spots or marks of any kind – Wonderful! When it’s cold and wet, and your hands are covered in fish slime, the hand never fails to give a good solid grip. The steel holds a good edge once sharpened.Cons, although sharp out of the box it was not razor sharp and needed touching up to give it that edge. The handle is moulded onto the blade, so needs the flashing trimming at the middle, there were bits missed and it was rough in places. For a knife costing this much and coming from Spyderco, I would expect this to be picked up in their QA processes. What might improve this product would be to make the handle out of a buoyant and brightly coloured material, being black handle and black blade if it's dropped you’ve lost it!Overall: The cons are minor irritations if you work in or near a highly corrosive environment this knife is superb. Highly recommend

Could have been great
Purchased both the Aqua Salt and the Pacific folder (both black on black straight edge) for water activity options. If you like the Delica, you will love the Pacific (note that the black blade is tight and slow in deployment). As to the Aqua Salt:Pro's: very light, nice blade length and shape, aggressive side texture, long handle length for XL hands, decent lanyard hole, and sheath fit and lock are superb. Con's: thin tip, unnecessarily thick sheath clip at over 1/4" pushes the unit away from the body and would fit several leather belts where nylon or even one leather belt would suffice (so it can wobble as well), and, thin handle - which would not be a problem except for my main criticism that there is no gimping in the handle top nor on the blade even forward of the "spydie-hole". This issue is a huge "miss" by Spyderco that had me debating a return on this item. The lack of thumb traction causes the knife to feel clumsy in hand when it could - and would - be tight, precise, and receive an enthusiastic "5" rating. Preferences will vary but this is a water knife where most applications are already, necessarily, more clumsy - and more critical. The user should have to almost pry this knife from his/her hand. Summary: Spyderco had a chance to hit a home run and settled for a double instead. I am keeping the blade but will add my own additional gimping and seek out a smaller clip (or remove and utilize the multiple sheath holes for lashing). I see it's potential as being that high. Hopefully, Spyderco will see it too and re-reintroduce this one in a gen 2 that gets it there. In the meantime, I will use it but will probably rely more on the Pacific folder...
