SWEDGP: GP Gentleman's Pocket Knife, Cocobolo
Gentleman’s Pocket Knife appears to be a traditional, slightly old-fashioned pocket knife but if you look at it closely you will find nothing but modern materials and hi-tech solutions. Fallkniven had some professional hunters look at a handmade sample of the GP and their spontaneous review was: This is how a folding knife for hunting purposes should look! Aside from personal preferences, it's assumed that many will like the steel of this knife. The newly developed laminated cobalt steel is scary sharp and the knife features the reliable blade lock i.e. liner. A properly built liner-lock system is, in the opinion of Fallkniven, the world’s strongest blade lock while still being easy to deal with. This technical solution also means that the knife is easy to clean. Rinse it under running warm water and let it dry for achieving best hygiene and function. As the strong blade bolt is threaded, you can adjust the blade inertia to suit your personal taste. The blade joint does not require lubrication. Oil and grease rather attract dust and dirt and this will increase rather than reduce wear. The shackle at the end of the handle allows you tie a lanyard to the knife – you wouldn’t like to lose this beauty!

Practical, elegant quality
I have or have had just about every knife you can think of and I choose to EDC the Fallkniven Gentleman's Pocketknife (GP). This is a seriously good pocketknife with timeless looks and loads of character. Whenever and wherever I pull it out, at work, with friends or on a hunt I get loads of compliments and intriguing questions. However, don't let its looks fool you. The knife is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Its an unthreatening, yet strong and immensely practical EDC knife, and its well worth the money. When you really think about it and you know what you are talking about when it comes to pocket knives, it makes for a perfect choice. It uses cobalt steel, the sharpest there is. Blade is of legal length 3" for most restrictive counties, making it a true EDC and travel choice for me. The blade geometry, as the previous reviewer mentioned, is very useful for EDC. Moreover on this however is that it has enough belly and a steeply curved drop point to make it a descent skinning and game dressing folder and this is in addition to its ability to handle most all EDC tasks. This is rare to find in a folder. Flow through construction allows for easy cleaning, and you can disassemble the knife for maintenance (very important in an expensive, long term owner proposition folder). Pivot design is ala Hinderer, lube free, meaning it is the most durable possible and also reduces maintenance. The cocobolo wood handles are easily replaceable in the years to come if it became necessary. The design, fit and finish are excellent. Aesthetically the knife is simply beautiful with rich cocobolo handles, inlaid German silver shields and highly polished, heat treated stainless steel liner and bolster framing. This pocket knife feels as though it was made to last lifetimes. Heirloom quality, pass it onto your children. As mentioned I EDC this knife, but I also I use the knife as a backup hunter. In comparison to PXL the GP is 33% lighter, yet has a better blade shape for EDC and as mentioned hunting. No matter what I carry the GP is always with me. I simply love it. Yes I gave it a con for ease of opening to be fair because it has no thumb stud. However, if you consider this is a classic and elegant pocket knife this is not a con at all. In fact I chose the GP for this very reason.

First Impressions are Very Good
The GP is beautifully made, and feels good in the hand. The action is smooth. You can one-hand open it fairly easily using a quick pump. If you do that, it's hard to disengage the liner lock. I don't think the design of the knife intended that method of opening, but it's good to know you can do it in a pinch. Because has no spring holding the blade in a closed position, I am not going to carry it loose in my pocket. It will always be in a slip or a case for safety reasons. You may decide otherwise. The craftsmanship and aesthetics of the knife, and the blade geometry will make this knife a good EDC for my rotation. It's a real knife with gravitas, but looks non-threatening, like a pocket knife somebody's granddad might carry. That's one of the main things I like about it. I'ts an expensive and a pretty knife. Almost too pretty to use, but I'm going to use it. I've been looking for a knife like this for a long time. Classy but functional.
