Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Bone Handles
Bone Handles
One of the most common natural materials used in knife making, bone handles are usually textured to provide grip and can be dyed almost any color.

Nice knife
A very heavy knife, great leather sheath. The handles need some texture, the green bone is fine, but to smooth. I also wish the shield was in the handle, no biggie. nice steel, stays sharp, 1095 is standard. price is nice. Made in US.

Big Pine is Big Medicine
I'm an outdoors type I would say, Eagle scout, U.S. Army (8yrs.), trained national parks ranger, and avid day hiker on the A.T. I have seen, held, and owned many types of knives. This Big Pine Camping Knife is one that immediately caught my eye. Everything about the knife is to my liking, Right out of the box it is so sharp that I can shave with it. The full tang gives the Big Pine a heft to it. that is to be desired. The fit in its leather sheath is very accurate to the knife. I like the fact that there is no snap, nice and quiet like. Oh...did I mention that the Big Pine is made in USA.
