White River Knives

The BackPacker is an extremely versatile, tough (S30V) and light weight knife. A 'cross over' knife, it is well suited for hiking, hunting, tactical and more. The handle is wrapped in paracord for lightweight comfort and grip. Popularized by U.S. troops, paracord is strong, durable and mildew resistant which makes it an excellent choice for a knife handle. Comes standard with black paracord handle but several colors are available at no extra charge. Comes with a custom molded Kydex sheath for up, down or sideways carry.

Kydex is an extremely durable material that stands up to the toughest use without gouging or scratching. It's easy to clean up without damaging the surface or compromising the sheath. The Backpacker sheath design allows you to wear it on a belt in two ways, with the knife handle pointed up or parallel to your belt. It can be fixed for both a right and left-hand grab. You can also string paracord through the sheath and hang the knife from your neck without worrying the knife will slip out.

Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Finish, Overall Quality, Weight, Blade Material, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Favorite small fixed blade!
I'm using this as an everyday knife at home (cardboard, packaging, tape, carving plastic bits, etc...) with the intention of taking it as my small blade for upcoming hiking and camping trips. The blade came sharper out of the box than any other blade I own, which is admittedly only a few fixed blade pieces from DPX, ESEE, and EK&T. But it was legitimately sharper than any of those, and has maintained it's edge over the course of regular at home use. The paracord wrap is plenty fine in place of the considerably more expensive scaled version, and makes it that much easier to fashion into a spear tip for potential fishing, hunting, or animal defense needs. Although my included kydex sheath has a snug fit, it's not so perfect that rattle is completely eliminated. That said, by design it's a very versatile sheath, and it doesn't feel at all like the knife could come out on it's own. The shape of the finger rest is absolutely perfect for my hand, and it feels like I can put a ton of force into the blade if necessary with no fear of slippage, even if wet. This has become my #1 small fixed blade, and I almost want to buy a second to back it up in case I ever destroy this one. Best part is, I doubt I could.

Good knife
Great alternative to ESEE Izula or KA BAR BK14. The knife came with a beautiful stone washed finish and it was quite sharp. I am able to have four finger purchase on the knife handle with my medium size hands and the blade length is perfect for EDC use. However the kydex sheath scratched the blade surface and dulled the knife edge upon initial usage of the knife. I also wish that the blade edge is closer to 20 degree than 25 degree for the ease of sharpening on my Sharpmaker. Nonetheless I do enjoy using this knife and I am looking forward to take it out on kayaking trips.
