BAR12113MBC: Ghost II Karambit, Black Canvas Micarta
Bark River Knives

Bark River specializes in cutting tools for outdoorsmen and others who need real performance in the field. They use a blend of traditional/contemporary designs and styles to get a product that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also ultra-functional.

The Bark River Ghost II Karambit was designed by Scott Horn of Airborne Knives. Scott is an expert on karambits and has put a lot of time in the Ghost II. It is a proven design that he has made for military personnel in both Iraq and Afghanistan. It is compact and can easily be held either blade up or blade down. The highly sculptured handle slabs give a very secure hold on the knife no matter how it is gripped. The blade is shaped in the traditional style and has a very sharp point to aid in all techniques that are employed with the use of these weapons. The Ghost II is very quick in the hand and can be used with the utmost confidence no matter the situation.

Near Perfect Karambit
I saved for and ordered one of these when they first hit the market. Being a practitioner of the Filipino arts and being experienced with the quality of Bark River Knives, this was a no-brainer for me. Unlike the first reviewer here I did not have any of the rust problems with the knife I received. It came nice and rust free. This knife is literally hair popping sharp out of the box and that doesn't describe how sharp this knife came. The point is needle sharp and will dig in with the slightest amount of pressure. If you are not experienced with a karambit please find you a quality trainer before manipulating this knife as if you mess up and experience "karam-bite", you will need stitches!! If you even realize you have been cut initially. My one unpleasant experience with this knife came in how sharp the edges inside and outside of the retention ring were. It was quite painful while transitioning from standard reverse grip to extended grip. I did not remove any stars from my rating as I took some very fine sandpaper and smoothed those edges to where it is very comfortable to use now and only cost me a dollar for the paper. I did not smooth out the edges on the impact points on the outer ring. These would prove quite painful upon impact and in extreme close quarters could cause horrible and distracting scratches. The handle material while nice and smooth have grinding divots around the edges that assist in retention. I , like the previous reviewer, do not like the sheath that comes with this knife and I am going to have a custom kydex made for this knife. Once that is done it will be one of my EDC knives for sure. If you are on the fence about this knife, don't be. It is a great little karambit and is scary sharp right out of the box. I gave it five stars because I am reviewing the knife and not the sheath. Sheathes can be made for this knife to fit your needs and preferences. If you want a light, sharp, quality karambit then look no further!

Knives wonderful, stealth horrible
The knife itself is great, very sharp, very well made. Came a bit rusty though, not a big deal. The sheath however is with out a doubt the worst leather sheath I have ever seen in my life, I've ordered a kydex sheath since getting this knife. Dealing with knifecenter was a great experience, they were very helpful when my bank was being mildly brain dead.
