Best in his class
I'm a pro guide in Alaska. A knife his a part of my EDC in the field. So, I used many different brands, styles: rescue, survival, hunting or outdoors knives. So far, the Benchmade 162-1 is the best in his category. The quality of the blade is amazing as well as size, balance, feeling and overall quality are at the edge !

Disapointed
I bought this knife as a back up for my survival / hunting kit. I was expecting a quality blade and presentation. The box looked as if it had been around a few years and upon opening the box there was just a knife. No paperwork, no sticker, no nothing. Now for the really disappointing part. The first thing that really made me frown was the poor attempt at a kydex sheath. It is not even or even close to being symmetrical. The material is really thin and the belt loop is rigid and digs into my side, not to mention that it is mounted to the sheath crooked. Next up is are the scales... Where do I start? I picked it up and gripped it and noticed a click in my hand. Upon inspection I found that both scales were not even mounted correctly. This is really evident when you hold the blade by the blade and shake it and you hear both scales rattling from across the room. Oh sure the blade has an edge on it, you bet it will slice paper but that is about the pros I would offer on this blade. I can't even begin to explain how Benchmade has lost my respect.

Great Knife
This knife is such a bada**! It really can handle most anything. Super sharp and durable. The sheath is decent, the screws did need some tightening after my first hike.
