Description
RC4HM: ESEE-4HM, Modified Handle
ESEE Knives

This is the longer, thicker "wilderness" model of the popular ESEE-3 tactical knife. With its 3/16" thickness, full flat grind, rounded pommel, Micarta handles, it can serve as a primary backpacking and wilderness survival knife. The Modified Handle model is set up more for hunting and bushcrafting type tasks as it is equipped with a leather drop sheath.

The ESEE-4HM is made from high carbon 1095 steel. And while 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for--especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blade properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH.

Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Micarta Handles
Micarta Handles
Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.

The ESEE 4 for the woodsman...
Take the original ESEE 4, remove the choil, give it an extremely comfortable bushcraft type handle and a leather belt sheath and voila! You have a classic field/hunting/survival/bushcraft knife! The leather sheath is well made with excellent retention. . This is a stout sturdy companion for all of your outdoor adventures. I only wish they made an uncoated version. I am not a fan of low profile black powder coat finishes, as I don't have the military person's need for light discipline.
