REMR39017: Remington Black Butterfly Knife
Remington began manufacturing top-quality pocket knives in the early 1920's. Ever since their initial introductions, Remington knives have been prized for their functional design, unsurpassed workmanship, and first-rate materials. Today, their knives feature blades of the finest cutlery steel made in American steel mills. The steel is hardened and tempered for toughness and extended edge retention, then hand honed to a super sharp cutting edge.

The handles, of durable quality materials, grip tight and feel comfortable. With proper care, the handle will keep its brilliance for many years. Designed to work hard and last long. A joy to collect and to use.

The Butterfly knife, manufactured by Bear & Son Cutlery, is one sweet tool. It gets a bad rap and is often associated with switchblades but nothing could be much further from the truth. They are difficult to master but are ultra fun to play with and cut with a vengeance when necessary. The handles are black coated aluminum and the blade is made from 1095 carbon steel with a black powder coating. The latch swings freely and locks the knife in both the open and closed positions. This model is also available with a wicked cool tanto blade or green coated aluminum handles for a more "Remington" look.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.

Pros: Ease of Opening, Weight, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Handle Material, None
Decent knife
Ive had it a couple weeks, normal light carrying and use, the handles feel good, flip smoothly. Very sharp out of the box. My only complaint, where the stop pin on the tang contacts the aluminum handles it's already worn a deep groove, which perhaps is to be expected, seems to be common on these, but still a bit annoying. I think it's good for the price tho

Pros: Blade Material, Weight, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Lock Ease of Use, Handle Material, None
Its ok
I wouldn't buy this product again in hindsight, I recommend saving the money for a better quality knife. After a week the latch stopped working due to the handles touching. After a month of constant flipping the blade has gotten wobbly. Although if this is within your budget it is better than whats out there.

Pros: Blade Material, Overall Quality, Handle Feel, Weight, Ease of Opening, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Good for the price
This is the first butterfly knife that I have purchased and I am overall very happy with the purchase. It flips decently and the blade comes very sharp. The only negatives I can think of are the latch, which gets in the way a lot while flipping it, and the black paint on the handles, which chips off very easily, get the gray one if this bothers you.
